The Netflix original series ‘Squid Game’, which was very popular around the world last year, is returning with season 2.
On the 13th, Netflix Korea released a message from director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed ‘Squid Game’, saying, “Ki-hoon and Frontman season 2 are coming back” through their official social media account on the 13th. This movie is the story of participants who risk their lives for a prize of 45.6 billion won, and is the most watched original series in Netflix history. In the play, Ki-hoon (Lee Jeong-jae) is the last survivor, and the frontman (Lee Byung-hun) takes charge of the game under the direction of the designer.
Director Hwang said, “A new game begins. It took 12 years to release season 1 of ‘Squid Game’ last year. However, it took only 12 days for this movie to become the most popular Netflix series in history. Thank you for watching and loving ‘Squid Game’.”

He said, “And now Ki-hoon is back. We’ll see you again with a new game and an amazing story. Producer, writer, and director of ‘Squid Game’ Hwang Dong-hyuk,” he concluded.
Netflix also released a video showing the character Yeong-hee, who appeared in the first game in the movie. In the video, Younghee’s voice said, “The flower of Mugunghwa has bloomed.” The Netflix global account also announced this news by releasing the same video and a message from Director Hwang in English.
The filming schedule, cast, and details of Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ have not yet been revealed. Director Hwang said in an interview with Mip TV in France in April that he was preparing for season 2 of the movie with the goal of releasing it at the end of 2024. He said at the time, “I am collecting ideas for a good story. He plans to return to Korea to write the screenplay.”
