Tesla CEO Elon Musk had an affair with the wife of his close friend, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, the Wall Street Journal reported on the 24th (local time).

According to reports, Sergey Brin filed for divorce with his wife Nicole Shanahen in January in court, the main cause of which was Elon Musk’s affair with his wife.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Sergey Brin were close friends in the past. In the meantime, Musk often slept at Brin’s house, and during the 2008 financial crisis, when Tesla was struggling with production, Sergey Brin invested $500,000 in Tesla. However, it is known that the affair between the two ended their friendship.

Brin, who married Shanahan in 2018, filed for divorce in January, weeks after she learned of the affair, citing “irreconcilable differences,” the WSJ reported. Brin and Shanahan have been separated since December 15 last year.

Elon Musk apologized to Brin at a party earlier this year and asked for forgiveness for his affair. Brin received an apology, but has not spoken regularly with Musk since, sources said. Brin was also reported to have recently instructed his financial advisors to liquidate his personal stake in Musk’s company.

Elon Musk has recently been embroiled in several sexual scandals.
